THE FIELDS ARE SET FOR THE 18TH ANNUAL HUGHSON SUPERCROSS

Individual Contenders

A strong field of individuals who have placed top 10 in invitationals throughout Northern California at set to toe the line this Saturday.

Girls

The girls field features returning champion Giana Mansouri of Elk Grove.  Last year Gianna won by over 25 seconds in the #6 time ever run at Supercross for the girls.  Only a sophomore, Gianna has run at 5k time of 19:08 this year and will be looking to improve upon her 17th place at last seasons Sac Joaquin Section Championship.

Boys

The boys race will be headlined by Jonathan Hupman of Merril West High School.  Jonathan is the returning champion from last year's supercross, where he ran the #5 time ever on our course.  Jonathan went on to place 5th at the Sac Joaquin Section Division II Championship last year.  I'm sure he's looking to move up 4 spots at section this year.  A win at Supercross would confirm that he's got the fitness to pull it off.

Hupman will be joined up front by Goldmine Invitational Champion Jackson Levasseur of Christian Brothers and Amanda Garcia Invitational Champion Ryan Almog of Christian Brothers.

Team Battles

Boys

The boys race will feature: Two of the top 3 teams in the Sac Joaquin division 4 in Christian Brothers and Hughson.  The two teams have not raced head to head yet this year, but raced on the same evening at Woodbridge, where the Falcons posted a slightly faster team time than the Huskies, who took to the course about 60 minutes later.  Looking to upset the small school rivalry will be Pleasant Grove of Elk Grove. The Eagles feature two of the top runners in the field and always run well at Supercross.  

Merced High will be running a young team and looking to gain some varsity experience for their rookies, but should compete well in the 9 team Gold Division field.  

Girls

The girls field will be highlited by the #2, #3, and #4 teams in the Sac Joaquin Section Division 4 in: Christian Brother, Hilmar, and Hughson The Huskies are 1-1 head to head in league competition against Hilmar this year and will face off for the TVL title in 2 weeks time.  Both Hughson and Hilmar are 0-1 against Christian Brothers in head to head competition.  Willow Glen, Pleasant Grove, and Elk Grove all bring quality teams to the girls field and the overall competition should be exciting.
