2026 Boys Preview

It's Going to be a Battle Up Front!

This year, we feature not one returning champion, but two!  Last year, Keegan Gehrke of Lincoln (Stockton) won our Varsity Gold race in a time of 13:28 (#12 on the all time record list).  He's back for another shot this year.  He will be joined by David Avila of Millenium who as a sophomore, won our Varsity Black race in a time of 13:36 (#14 on the all time course record list.  Will these two push each other to a new course record this year?
Gehrke is last year's Gold Division Champ

Avila won the Black Division last year.

Avial and Gehrke will be joined up front by Cruz Solis of Pleasant Grove (6th in the Gold Division last year) and Luke Grosjean of Del Campo.  Solis recently ran 16:02 for 5k at the Clovis Invitational and Grosjean is won the Wildfire Invitational earlier in the season.

These boys will be joined by many quality athletes from all over the Sac Joaquin, Central Coast and Central CIF Sections.  See our Boys Top Contenders Preview for some of the rest of the best athletes in the field.

Boys' Team Battle

North Monterey County of  Castroville returns this year looking to defend their title they won last year in a narrow vicotry over host Hughson.  Pleasant Grove, of Elk Grove, has two runners in our top 10 individual boys preview and return most of their scorers from a teamo were 3rd last year. They are the likely favorite to win in this division.

The teams in this division are very evenly matched.  After Pleasant Grove, Hughson, and NMC we have strong teams from Roseville, Lincoln, Elk Grove, and Christian Brothers.  Central Valley of Ceres is improving quickly and is making their first appearance in the Gold Race.  They look to continue on their successes from earlier this season.
